Future Matters

Samuel Bloch, Marguerite Caux, Nida Dhooghe, Rose-Aimée Guérin, Clara Hertling, Tâm Nguyen, and Benjamin Pléau

Start 22 Jan 2026
End 21 Feb 2026

EDJI Gallery is thrilled to introduce Future Matters : a new initiative dedicated to artists currently enrolled in higher art education.

Each year, the gallery will devote one month of its programme to a curated selection of student artists from Belgium, presented through an exhibition format. Artists are selected following an open call and portfolio review, and work across a range of mediums and practices.

Positioned at the intersection of education and the professional art world, Future Matters is intended to provide an early exhibition context at a formative moment in artistic development, offering visibility and experience beyond the academic framework.

Reflecting the gallery’s ongoing commitment to emerging practices, the project will become a recurring part of EDJI Gallery’s programme. This inaugural edition brings together works by Samuel Bloch (La Cambre, MA Painting), Marguerite Caux (Royal Academy of Fine Arts Brussels, MA Painting), Nida Dhooghe (La Cambre, MA Painting), Rose-Aimée Guérin (La Cambre, MA Ceramics), Clara Hertling (La Cambre, BA Painting), Tâm Nguyen (Royal Academy of Fine Arts Brussels, MA Fine Arts), and Benjamin Pléau (La Cambre, MA Drawing).

Founded in 2023, EDJI Gallery was born with a mission to challenge the conventions of traditional art galleries. After a series of itinerary exhibitions in Paris, London, and New York, the gallery established its permanent home in Brussels—a city we view as a forward-thinking pivotal center for contemporary art in Europe. Much like the spirit of our gallery, Brussels is charged with a creative energy that feels both restless and full of possibility. It’s a place where diversity, art, and innovation collide in exciting, unpredictable ways, making it the ideal setting for what we aim to build.

With a focus on ultracontemporary artists—those born after 1975—EDJI Gallery celebrates the diversity of voices redefining the art landscape today. Our program highlights artists tackling critical themes such as identity, gender, and societal change, creating work that speaks to the complexities of contemporary culture. Women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ artists are leading this new movement, driving not only a more inclusive and diverse art world but also reshaping the industry with a greater presence of marginalized voices.
