For RendezVous 2026, Agency will present its artistic practice and the space allowing it: the Praticotheque. The Praticotheque is the ensemble of the space, the List of things and the library. An environment built to allow research, debate and alliances between practices.
“Just like there is a herbothèque with herbs or a bibliothèque with books, we have a praticothèque with practices. The boxes contain traces of practices and the ways in which practitioners defend ecologies or these practices’ modes of existence, which mostly happens when there is a problem or controversy. The praticothèque is Agency’s depot for research, composed in cooperation with other researchers.”
In 2025, a wiki inventory was set up to allow access to and research in the Praticotheque collection. The collective edit-a-thon sessions introduce a curious public to the collection while contributing and complementing the wiki-inventory.

Agency is the generic name of a Brussels-based initiative that was established in 1992 by artist and activist Kobe Matthys (1970–2023).
Together with a small community of artists, activists and researchers, we sustain the Praticotheque, the ensemble of a space, the List of Boundary Things and a library as an environment built to allow research, debate and alliance between practices.
Agency constitutes a growing list of things that resist the split between the classifications of nature and culture. This list mostly derived from controversies and juridical cases involving property from the start of the enclosures of the commons around the 17th century until today.
The organisation’s purpose is to explore the interference of the apparatus of intellectual property law for an ecology of artistic practices and to revive a sustainable diversity of practices.
Through the organisation of regular events, we open up the Praticotheque to the public, thus continuing the dynamics and research inspired by and based on the practice of Agency.
